Barbells are a common piece of equipment within most gyms, in fact it would be very difficult to find a gym without a barbell. However, in our experience they are probably one of the pieces of equipment that people shy away from.
Why is this? I’ve heard many people say that they think that barbells are for use of the elite only or for the most experienced clients. This is totally not true, the barbell can be used by anyone to help improve efficiency of movement, strength and performance.
A standard Olympic barbell weighs in at 20kg. Whilst this can be heavy to start learning movements, there are lighter options available and can even use a PVC pipe get get comfortable with movements and movement patterns before adding weight.
Never skip leg day!
