I have been lifting in the gym for almost 20 years, as a key part of my training programme. However, one area that I have always been weak on is deadlifting and squats. I knew Nathan had a great background in swimming having competed together for GB Juniors and for medals at Senior Nationals. Allied to this Nathan has developed great expertise in powerlifting and this is something I felt I could really benefit from.
We had an initial phone conversation, where I explained what I had been doing and where I wanted to be. Nathan then created a tailored programme for me, to work on the specific areas that I needed to improve. We had regular contact through each week to assess form and technique, with Nathan giving great tips and suggestions on how to improve. I can honestly say I have learnt more about technique and lifting in the last 4-5 weeks than I did during the years I was training full time. My technique has improved significantly, and I have a lot less pain in my lower back than before. I can’t wait for gyms to open up properly, so I can really push on the training, as Nathan has given me a great base.
